What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
TED is an annual event that brings together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline — technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. The talks at the conference, called TED Talks, are then made available to watch for free on TED.com.
Similarly, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At TEDx events, TED talks, video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.

About Sinarmas World Academy
SINARMAS WORLD ACADEMY (SWA) provides an international education experience from Nursery to Grade 12, that aims to achieve Academic Excellence. SWA opened in July 2008 and the first cohort of Grade 12 students graduated in June 2012. SWA prepares each student for a lifetime of academic success through the development of adaptable 21st century approaches to learning.
SWA offers an engaging Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum from the UK that develops students physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Starting from Kindergarten 2 to Grade 5, SWA incorporates the Cambridge Curriculum within a framework that promotes an inquiry-based approach to learning. SWA has built exclusive partnerships and exchange programmes with Peking University Elementary School and other institutions in Korea and Japan.
In Grades 6 to 10, SWA integrates the curriculum content from Cambridge Assessment International Educations (CAIE) within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) framework, according to national requirements and to the school’s Asian cultural identity.
In order to better prepare students for intended career pathways and entry to IB Diploma Programme (DP) course selections, SWA has developed a Business, Engineering, Science & Technology (BEST) ‘streaming’ programme starting in Grade 9. SWA has pioneered the BEST pathways to enable students to study subjects that suit their interests and long-term career goals.
SWA graduates complete the IB Diploma Programme, a rigorous two-year pre-university course of studies that prepares them for success in reputable universities worldwide and to lead purposeful and rewarding lives in society.
