
Jusuf Wanandi
Politician and Educator
Jusuf Wanandi is a well-known politician and educator who is born on November 15, 1937. He is also the brother of Sofjan Wanandi. He went to high school in Padang, before moving to Jakarta to enter Kanisius High School. Later, he entered the Faculty of Law of Universitas Indonesia and graduated in 1960, becoming an assistant lecturer at the same University. In 1971, he became one of the founders of the well-known Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) think tank in Jakarta and has continued to be active in the affairs of CSIS until the present. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was an adviser to president Soeharto on political and international affairs.Jusuf Wanandi has been for a number of years on the board of the main Jakarta daily The Jakarta Post. From time to time, he contributes articles to the newspaper. He was elected as co-chair of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) in 2008.
